The mesmerising Gin Wigmore |
We made the trip over the hill to Martinborough, to be welcomed into a glorious summers day. Thank goodness, as the weather hadn't been so brilliant a couple of days earlier. We knew we had to get to the venue early to ensure we got a good spot. We sit on the blanket side of the open arena at Alana Estate.
The main draw card for us this year was Gin Wigmore. Also performing were the brilliant Avalanche City and back after a ten year hiatus, The Mutton Birds.
In 2011 the talent on show included Brooke Fraser, was joined on tour by Opshop and Midnight Youth.
We attend the concert as a family and it is a brilliant family friendly event. The kids love the picnic, rolling down the grassy banks, running off to get cans of lemonade, dancing to great music and staying up late. Actually, we all enjoy those things. And the adults can buy Alana Estates wines, which are carried around in baskets to sell to you at your picnic spot. One year we might just stay over and join the crowds walking back into town to their accommodation.
See you there next year.
