Museum Hotel Cocktails in the City – WOAP

Apparently we have been drinking cocktails all wrong.   I know! I’m just as surprised as you are.  For a long time I have been waiting for ‘cocktail o’clock’.  But that hour is not, as you would imagine, in the early evening, or even in the afternoon.   No, not after midnight, but “designed for morning”.  Well, I feel all liberated and ready for a siesta at the same time.

Cocktails were originally designed as an elixir to be added to milk.

The real reason for the timing of the following cocktail is eluded to in the name – as in Hair of the Dog.  So, let’s not argue with the experts and just accept their knowledge.

Hair of the Zombie

- Best served in a large ceramic Tiki statue, garnished, but please, NO umbrellas.

Measurements are up to the mixologist:

Appleton’s Rum (8 year old)

Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum

Breakfast marmalade

Lemon juice

Grapefruit juice

Pomegranate juice

Absinthe (for juniper, aniseed & fennel)

Tiki Bitters (to lend allspice, cinnamon, cloves & citrus)

Simple syrup (including rum, lime & star anise)

If you happen to have some Museum Hotel staff on hand, have them whip you up some duck breast Carpaccio, on sugar syrup infused with tea and caramelised onion.   Marvellous.
