Food Festival Season

WOAP Last Supper

August is no time to start a diet, a cleanse or a detox.  However, come the end of this month these diets will be done en masse in Wellington.

The reason for this is the Food Festival Season, to commence on Friday 5th August.

The Beer Festival – Beervana

All beer drinkers should flock to the Westpac Stadium for a weekend of experiencing over 200 beers from more than 20 brewers.  Beer in NZ has come a long way from being sold in crates, thank goodness and is now enjoying a renaissance in the boutique beer industry.  More power to them.

Every regional bar plus the Real Ale bar will have an accompanying food station, featuring delicious plates by Boulcott Street Bistro, Logan Brown, Martin Bosley’s, Monsoon Poon, Steve Morris at Westpac Stadium Function Centre, The General Practitioner and The Hop Garden.

Wellington on a Plate (WOAP)

Also starts this Friday 5th August.  If you haven’t booked your tickets or made your reservation, do it now, or you risk missing out.
There are set menus at restaurants and cafés, events and master classes.

The Locals are enjoying lunch at Logan Brown, cocktails at the Museum Hotel, and later in the month we dine at MariaLuca Ristoro (previously known as Maria Pia’s).  We will also be enjoying the Moore Wilsons and Kirkaldie and Stains food tastings.  We will share our experiences with you.

Chocolate Festival

The Chocolate Festival will push the boundaries for the typical uses for chocolate. There will be chocolate tastings, meals, cocktails and demonstrations.

This festival is on next weekend, starting Friday 12th until Sunday 14th August. Tickets are selling fast. Until Wednesday 10th August see their website for tickets.

Everyone can join in the festival fun by partaking in the National Roast Day this Sunday 7th August – what will your roast of choice be: pork, beef, lamb, chicken or something a little different? Let me know how you get on.
