If you have never been to Logan Brown, we can highly recommend it.
Of course most Wellingtonians will know about Logan Brown as it has been treating its diners to fine food for 15 years.
“In 1996 the creators of Logan Brown, Al Brown and Steve Logan had a vision. They wanted to take the standard of fine dining in New Zealand to a new level. Today, their award winning restaurant continues to set new standards. With Head chef/partner Shaun Clouston and an impeccable team of hosts, they offer you the best in food, a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere, and dining integrity.
Logan Brown's dining room is part of the creativity and vibrancy of Wellington's Cuba St. The building is a 1920s revamped bank chamber with high ceilings, private dining room, and an elegant, friendly space for any occasion. Join us for a truly superb experience whether for a drink in the bar, regular dining, a quick bite before the theatre or movie, special occasion, or private function.”
The staff are faultless, with extensive knowledge of the menu, inconspicuous waiting and friendly but not too familiar, it’s a fine line and they make it look easy.
The venue also makes the whole experience feel rather theatrical. With its high ceilings, balcony seating, private alcoves and enormous chandelier.
We dined there on the opening day of Wellington on a Plate (WOAP) for lunch. The Logan Brown WOAP lunch menu is a set menu with matched wine and three courses for $45 per person. Brilliant value. We were feeling greedy on the day, so ordered the Wgyu Fat Potatoes with Habanero Mayonnaise at an extra but worthwhile cost. These little cubes of crispy joy were the best potatoes I have ever tasted.
Here is the beautifully crafted menu for WOAP:
